How the Internet has shaped how we interact with and create art.

The Internet began with the goal of being decentralized, non-discriminatory (also known as net neutrality), easy to participate in, and accessible to all. This meant that there would be no total control by a central authority, no one single point of failure, allowing everyone to communicate at the same level, and encouraging all to participate and experiment with it, all while remaining completely universal and accessible on all devices.

This led to a new wave of art to surge through culture: Net Art.

Internet Art, or Net Art, is a form of media made for and distributed by the internet. The main goal of this art was to be interactive, where the viewer can engage with the work of art in new ways. Internet art is often interactive and participatory, and can be used to spread a message using human interactions. With the rise of the Internet and Net Art, more people and cultures had access to the tools to create media that represented them.
